Hey everybody

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE SUBMISSION DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED UNTIL JULY 7TH!!!!!
Everything you need to know before submitting your work:
The Charlottetown Festival presents ‘The Fringe’: a five day festival showcasing emerging works in theatre, film, spoken word and movement. ‘The Fringe’ will be an opportunity to take your work out of isolation and to develop it, extending its boundaries and your own. In collaboration with other artists as well as a dramaturge, you will have the chance to share your work with the local arts community and receive feedback from arts professionals from various disciplines.
- The Fringe runs from Wednesday, August 27th to Sunday, August 31st in the Studio Theatre and a possible second venue TBA.
- We are looking for original pieces, completed or in development, and we encourage artists of all ages with a passion for creative exploration and discovery to submit.
- Submissions must be dropped off at the Confederation Centre of the Arts no later than 4pm on Monday, June 30th. We will notify you by Monday, July 7th about the status of your submission.
- There is a $50 registration fee that must be included with your submission. This fee enables us to provide you with rehearsal space, technical assistance, marketing, and the services of a professional dramaturge. There is a $35 registration fee for film submissions.
- We ask that short films be approximately 20 minutes in length or less, and that theatre and movement pieces be approximately 45 minutes or less. Longer pieces may be considered, and excerpts from longer pieces are most welcome.
- Attendance at a technical rehearsal is mandatory. This rehearsal will take place the same day as the scheduled performance. You will be alerted several weeks in advance as to the date of this rehearsal.
- The Fringe is not a competition, though after each performance/ film the piece in question will be discussed, and arts professionals from various disciplines will offer feedback regarding each piece. In the month leading up to the Fringe, we will be able to set you up with a dramaturge who can assist you in preparing your piece for the stage.
- Due to The Fringe’s affiliation with the Charlottetown Festival, consideration must be given to adult content and themes. Whereas The Fringe will not dictate content we must request that all adult themed material be brought to the attention of the organizers so we can advise potential audience members.
